King Air Captain – Air Ambulance (Essendon, Melbourne)

Bring your command experience to a purpose-driven role. Toll Aviation is seeking skilled Captains to operate our King Air B260/B360 fleet on a dedicated air ambulance contract based in Melbourne. You will fly single-pilot alongside highly trained Flight Paramedics and clinical staff, delivering time-critical patient retrieval and inter-hospital transfers across Victoria and to other states. All shifts commence and conclude at Essendon.
🧭 What you’ll do
- Operate the King Air B260/B360 as PIC for emergency retrievals and patient transfers, ensuring the highest standards of safety and airmanship.
- Plan and execute IFR flights by day and night across varying environments and weather conditions.
- Work in close coordination with Flight Paramedics, clinical teams and operations staff to meet time-critical mission requirements.
- Exercise sound judgment in dynamic situations, balancing operational priorities with patient needs and crew safety.
- Uphold company SOPs, regulatory compliance and professional standards at all times.
🧰 Minimum requirements
- Total PIC: 1,500 hours
- Multi-Engine PIC: 400 hours
- Night PIC: 100 hours
- Instrument flight time: 250 hours (minimum 125 in-flight)
- MEIR renewals: Minimum 3 Multi-Engine Instrument Rating renewals
- Licence: CASA ATPL, or CPL with all ATPL subjects completed
- Medical: Class 1
- English proficiency: ICAO ELP Level 4+
- Right to work: Ability to live and work in Australia (no sponsorship available)
🌟 Preferred qualifications
- Previous experience on the King Air B260 and/or B360
- 1,000+ hours Turbine PIC
- Checking and/or training background
🛡️ Additional requirements
- Proven ability to work within a multi‑disciplined professional team
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Working With Children Check
- Eligible for and able to hold an ASIC
Note: Non-Type Rated candidates are welcome — type training will be provided.
📍 Where you’ll be based
All duties start and finish at Essendon (Melbourne), supporting missions across Victoria with the flexibility to operate into other states as required.
