Take command of a long-range Gulfstream G550 and deliver safe, polished, and impeccably executed trips worldwide. As Captain, you’ll lead the flight deck, uphold uncompromising safety and compliance standards, and ensure a best-in-class experience for passengers across international and domestic operations.
🧭 Your mission
As the G550 Captain, you will serve as Pilot in Command on a type-rated platform, setting the tone for safety, professionalism, and exceptional service. You’ll manage complex international operations, collaborate closely with your crew and ground partners, and maintain readiness to launch on short notice.
- Operate the Gulfstream G550 as PIC for domestic and worldwide missions with a focus on safety, compliance, and efficiency.
- Lead flight planning, performance, fuel, alternates, and international procedures (e.g., oceanic, RVSM, and RNP) in coordination with dispatch and ground teams.
- Champion a just-culture safety mindset; use sound ADM/CRM to mentor and coordinate with the SIC and cabin team.
- Ensure aircraft airworthiness, documentation, and MEL/CDL compliance; partner with maintenance to address discrepancies.
- Maintain currency, training, and records; uphold all company policies and regulatory requirements.
- Deliver a discreet, anticipatory passenger experience while protecting privacy and confidentiality.
- Remain mission-ready and able to be airborne within 3 hours of first call.
🧰 Minimum qualifications
- Total time: 3,000 hours
- PIC time: 1,500 hours
- PIC in type (G550): 100 hours
- Multi-engine: 1,500 hours
- Jet: 500 hours
- Type rating: Required (Gulfstream G550)
- License required: ATP
- Open to license holders: FAA
- Medical: Class 1
🌟 Preferred qualifications
- Previous international Captain experience.
- Initial or recurrent Part 142 training in type within the last 9 months.
- Total time: 5,000+ hours (preferred)
- PIC time: 2,500+ hours (preferred)
- Jet PIC: 500+ hours (preferred)
🛡️ Compliance and screenings
- Violation-free FAA history.
- FCC Restricted Radiotelephone Operator Permit.
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Valid U.S. driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Current passport.
- Ability to pass an FAA Pilot Records Database (PRD) review by Abbott management.
- Ability to pass reference screening and a comprehensive background check.
- Pre-employment drug screen and agreement to random drug/alcohol testing.
- Proof of eligibility to work in the U.S. (visa sponsorship not provided).
🌍 Schedule, travel, and work environment
- Flexible availability for days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Able to respond to short-notice trips and be airborne within 3 hours of first call.
- Willingness to travel extensively worldwide with no restrictions; obtain vaccinations required for international travel.
- Comfort working in varied weather (heat, cold, rain, snow) and around active ramp operations, including high noise levels, vibration, and exposure to fuel, fumes, and hydraulic fluids.
