Step into the left seat on the Boeing 737NG. We’re seeking an accomplished captain to lead safe, efficient Part 121 operations, champion SOP excellence, and mentor the crew. This is a permanent, direct-entry opportunity with type rating training provided (NTR).

🧭 The opportunity

As a Direct Entry Captain on the 737NG, you will lead the flight deck, uphold a safety-first culture, and deliver operational excellence across all phases of flight.

  • Serve as PIC under Part 121, ensuring strict adherence to Boeing SOPs (Normal & Non-Normal) and the company OM.
  • Plan and execute flights within complex ATC airspace using sound judgment, Doc 8168 (PANS-OPS), and robust threat and error management.
  • Lead, brief, and mentor flight and cabin crew; drive exemplary CRM and on-time performance.
  • Maintain currency, regulatory compliance, and professional standards across all operations and training events.
  • Work a variable schedule, including irregular hours and operational call-outs as required.

🧰 Minimum requirements

  • Total Time: 5,000+ hours (essential)
  • PIC Time: Either (a) 2,000+ hours PIC on aircraft >50 tonnes; OR (b) 1,000+ hours PIC on Boeing 737 or similar (essential)
  • Currency: Recent PIC experience within the past 24 months on a large commercial airliner operating under Part 121 (e.g., Boeing 737 or Airbus)
  • License: Valid ICAO ATPL
  • Medical: Valid Class 1
  • Language: ICAO ELP Level 4 or higher
  • Type Rating: Not required — training provided (NTR)

📚 Additional requirements & knowledge

  • Education: Grade 12 or equivalent (essential)
  • Working Hours: Ability to work irregular hours (essential)
  • Training Bond: Willing to sign an Upgrade Training Bond (essential)
  • Regulatory: Good knowledge of South African CARS and CATS
  • ATC & Procedures: Knowledge of ATC airspace and procedures; working knowledge of ICAO Doc 8168
  • SOP Mastery: Excellent knowledge of the Safair OM and Boeing SOPs (Normal & Non-Normal)
