Air Napier is seeking a capable single-pilot IFR captain to join our Napier base, flying Part 135 commercial air transport operations on our scheduled freight runs, regular charter, and scheduled services. You will primarily operate the Piper PA-31 Navajo, with scope to support operations on the Piper Seneca and IFR Cherokee 6 as required.

🧭 What you will do

  • Operate the PA-31 Navajo under Part 135 SPIFR from our Napier base.
  • Fly scheduled freight sectors, regular charters, and scheduled services with on-time, safe execution.
  • Plan and conduct IFR cross-country operations across New Zealand domestic airspace.
  • Adhere to Air Napier SOPs and NZCAA regulations while maintaining the highest safety standards.
  • Coordinate effectively with dispatch, ground operations, and customers in a single-pilot environment.
  • Participate in training and checking, and support multi-type operations as operationally required.

🧰 Minimum requirements

  • Total time: 710 hours
  • Cross-country time: 125 hours minimum
  • IFR cross-country: 30 hours
  • Instrument time: 50 hours actual or simulated
  • Night: 25 hours
  • Licence: CPL (NZCAA)
  • Medical: Class 1
  • ICAO English: Level 4
  • Type rating: Not required (training provided)
  • Visa sponsorship: Not provided
