🧭 The Role

As PC‑12 Captain, you will lead fixed‑wing operations in support of RCMP Air Services, exercising full Pilot‑in‑Command authority and judgment to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient flights. You will operate across Canada—including remote and northern environments—under IFR/VFR, often on time‑sensitive missions that demand operational discipline and sound decision‑making.

🧰 What You’ll Do

  • Plan and conduct flights as PIC in accordance with the Air Services Fixed Wing Operations Manual (FWOM), CARs, and company policy.
  • Operate safely in diverse conditions, including northern/remote strips, coastal regions, and challenging weather.
  • Lead operational risk assessments, fuel and performance planning, and crew/passenger briefings.
  • Coordinate with operations/dispatch and stakeholders to meet mission objectives and timelines.
  • Maintain exemplary airmanship, documentation, and regulatory currency.
  • Uphold the highest standards of safety, professionalism, and confidentiality.

🌟 Minimum Requirements

  • Flight time: 3,000 hours PIC
  • License: TCCA CPL with Instrument Rating (IR)
  • Medical: Class 1; valid Category I Transport Canada medical validation certificate
  • Education: Secondary school diploma
  • Radio: Restricted Operator Certificate – Aeronautical (ROC‑A)
  • Language: ICAO English Language Proficiency Level 4+
  • Type rating: Not required (training provided)
  • Mobility: Willing and able to relocate anywhere in Canada; able to spend long hours in travel status (relief duties, training, overnights)
  • Command responsibility: Willing to accept full PIC responsibility for aircraft and passenger safety in compliance with all laws and regulations

⭐ Preferred Assets

  • Recent IFR experience within the past 5 years
  • Pilatus PC‑12 time
  • Northern operations experience
  • Light category turboprop experience
  • Recent flight experience within the past 5 years
  • Air Ambulance/Medivac, Charter, and/or Airborne Surveillance experience
  • Coastal float and/or amphibious experience

🧪 Medical and Fitness Standards

In addition to an unrestricted Category I Transport Canada medical validation certificate, candidates must meet minimal health standards as assessed by RCMP Health Services. This includes a full medical assessment, laboratory test(s), psychological examinations, and specific vision, colour vision, and hearing standards.

🎓 Training and Currency

  • Successful completion of Air Services Special Constable Member Training
  • Successful completion of line indoctrination as per the Air Services FWOM
  • Completion of all additional and recurrent training/qualifications required by the FWOM, Canadian Aviation Regulations, and RCMP policy

🔐 Security Clearance

Applicants will undergo a thorough RCMP security clearance process for Top Secret status. This process is managed by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and includes, but is not limited to, an interview, reference checks, verification of previous employment, review of on‑line activities, credit checks, and questions regarding alcohol and/or drug use.

Note: The Top Secret security clearance factor is not used at the pre‑selection stage. The RCMP is responsible for the security clearance process.

🗺️ Mobility and Lifestyle

This is a national operation. You must be willing and able to relocate anywhere in Canada and to spend extended periods in travel status for relief duties, training, and overnights associated with regular flights.
