As a Direct Entry First Officer, you’ll operate multi‑engine aircraft in a high‑performance, multi‑crew environment. You’ll benefit from type training, robust SOPs, and a supportive culture that values precision, airmanship, and customer focus.
🧭 Minimum requirements
- Total time: 500 hours minimum
- Licence: CASA Frozen ATPL (ATPL theory credits)
- Ratings: Current Multi‑Engine Instrument Rating (MEA)
- Approach endorsements: Hold endorsements for Instrument Approach 2D and 3D on an Australian Instrument Rating – Multi Engine Aeroplane
- Medical: Class 1
- English: ICAO ELP Level 6
- Type rating: Not required – full training provided (NTR)
🧰 Additional requirements
- The ability to pass a Drug and Alcohol Test
- The ability to pass a Qantas pre‑employment medical
- The ability to hold an Aviation Security Identification Card (ASIC)
- A current passport with unrestricted access to all Qantas ports of call
- The right to work in Australia / New Zealand without restriction or sponsorship
- Visa sponsorship: Not provided
🌟 Preferred experience
- Preference for candidates who have flown at least 50 hours in the previous 12 months
- Strong CRM, threat and error management, and disciplined IFR decision‑making
