🧭 The opportunity
As a Training Captain on the Embraer E170/E190, you will deliver line training and checking, model exemplary airmanship, and help shape the next generation of E‑Jet pilots. You’ll operate within a safety-first, SOP-driven environment and champion continuous improvement across flight operations and training.
🧰 What you’ll do
- Conduct line training and proficiency checks in accordance with company manuals and regulatory standards.
- Provide mentoring and coaching to flight crew, reinforcing best practice, CRM, and threat and error management.
- Support simulator training and checking duties (where approved), including type rating activities on the E170/E190.
- Champion safety, SOP compliance, and reporting culture; contribute to training syllabus refinement and debrief excellence.
- Maintain recency and personal proficiency to the highest professional standard.
🌟 Minimum requirements
- Total time: 4,000 hours
- PIC on type: 500 hours (Embraer E170/E190)
- Type rating: Required on E170/E190
- Flight experience: Previous line training or checking on jet transport aircraft >35t
- Licence: ATPL
- Accepted authority: CASA
- Medical: Class 1
- Language proficiency: ICAO ELP Level 6
🔎 Preferred and currency
- Simulator/training: Experience in simulator training or checking (including Type Rating training) on ERJ170/190 series aircraft desirable
- Recency: Experience on type within the last 2 years preferred
✅ Additional requirements
- The ability to pass a Qantas pre-employment medical and drug & alcohol test
- The ability to hold an ASIC
- A current passport with unrestricted access to all Qantas ports of call and at least 12 months validity
- Work rights: Australian citizenship or the unrestricted right to work in Australia / New Zealand (no sponsorship available)
