  • Aircraft: DHC‑8 (Dash 8)
  • Type Rating: Not required — training provided
  • Reporting to: Aerial Firefighting Head of Flight Operations
  • Licenses: CPL with IR and ME (FAA or EASA)
  • Medical: Class 1
  • Eligibility: Capable of receiving a Canadian Foreign License Validation Certificate
  • Language: Exceptional English proficiency (spoken and written)

✈️ Your mission

As an AFF Line Pilot, you will ensure safe, effective, and efficient airtanker missions in demanding, time‑critical environments.

  • Conduct multi‑crew, low‑level tactical operations delivering long‑term retardant.
  • Plan flights, brief crew, and complete thorough pre‑flight and post‑flight checks.
  • Coordinate with company schedulers, clients, aircrew, and ATC to execute missions.
  • Contribute to the development and continuous refinement of SOPs and TTPs.
  • Participate in Metrea’s Aviation Safety and Management System.
  • Uphold Metrea’s core values and maintain high customer satisfaction.
  • Maintain confidentiality, composure, and sound judgment in high‑stress scenarios.
  • Adapt to evolving conditions, locations, and operational requirements.

🧭 What you’ll fly and how you’ll operate

  • Platform: DHC‑8 (Dash 8) airtanker; multi‑engine, multi‑crew.
  • Profile: Low‑level tactical operations with long‑term retardant application.
  • Experience valued: DHC‑8 tactical and low‑level time is highly desirable.
  • Training: Type rating not required; comprehensive training provided.

🧰 Minimum qualifications

  • PIC time: 500 hours (including at least 100 hours PIC in the last 12 months)
  • Aerial firefighting: More than 200 hours in an aerial firefighting capacity
  • Night / Instrument: 100 hours night and 75 hours instrument
  • Licenses: CPL with IR and ME — FAA or EASA
  • Medical: Class 1
  • English: Exceptional proficiency, spoken and written
  • Eligibility: Able to receive a Canadian Foreign License Validation Certificate
  • Training readiness: Able to complete company flight training and demonstrate role proficiency
  • Professional qualities: Team‑oriented, detail‑driven, discreet, and comfortable working with limited supervision

🌟 Preferred experience

  • Previous AFF experience on large turboprops (e.g., DHC‑8 or similar) delivering retardant.
