As a key member of the Flight Operations team, the Direct Entry Captain (Dash 8‑300) will report to the Director of Flight Operations and play an essential role in the safe, efficient operation of our Dash 8‑300 fleet. Our missions support aerial firefighting operations at international bases, protecting communities from wildfires with reliable, responsive aviation support.

🧭 What you’ll do

  • Command the Dash 8‑300 during aerial firefighting missions, ensuring the highest standards of safety and performance.
  • Lead multi‑crew operations; conduct thorough briefings/debriefings and maintain effective crew resource management.
  • Coordinate with incident command, air attack supervisors, and ground agencies to deliver timely, accurate drops and support flights.
  • Plan and execute missions, including performance calculations, weight and balance, fuel planning, and terrain/weather risk assessment.
  • Ensure compliance with company SOPs and regulatory requirements at all times.
  • Operate flexibly across international bases; support rapid deployment and surge operations, including overnight shifts as required.
  • Champion a just culture by participating in safety reporting, training, and continuous improvement initiatives.

🌟 Minimum requirements

  • Total time: 1,500 hours
  • PIC time: 500 hours
  • In type (Dash 8‑300): 250 hours
  • Type rating: Required
  • License required: CPL, IR, ME
  • Accepted licenses: TCCA
  • Medical: Class 1
  • ICAO ELP level: 4
  • COVID‑19 vaccination: Required where permitted by applicable law
  • Visa sponsorship: Not provided
