Leidos Airborne Solutions Australia is recruiting experienced Captains to join our dedicated Search and Rescue (SAR) jet fleet. Based in Perth, Melbourne or Cairns, you will command Challenger 604 operations under contract with the AMSA, responding to time‑critical missions across Australia’s vast SAR region.

🧭 Your Mission

From offshore rescues to emergency response and humanitarian aid, you’ll lead crews on high‑consequence missions that help save lives. As Captain, your judgement, airmanship and leadership will ensure safe, efficient outcomes in demanding environments across Australia’s SAR area of responsibility.

🧰 What You’ll Do

  • Command Challenger 604 SAR missions, ensuring the highest standards of safety, compliance and crew coordination.
  • Make sound operational decisions in dynamic, time‑critical scenarios while maintaining situational awareness and mission focus.
  • Lead and mentor a professional crew, championing SOPs, CRM and continuous improvement.
  • Maintain operational readiness, including training currency and the ability to respond when rostered for night standby.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to support effective, timely SAR outcomes under the national AMSA framework.

🌟 What You Bring

  • Total time: 3000 hours
  • Pilot in Command (PIC) time: 1000 hours
  • Multi-engine: 1500 hours
  • Type rating: Not required (training provided)
  • License required: ATPL (CASA)
  • Medical: Class 1
  • ICAO ELP level: 4
  • Preferred: Jet experience highly regarded
  • Additional: Eligible for ASIC; ability to reside within 30 minutes of your assigned base when on night standby
