🧭 Role overview
As Captain, you will lead the flight deck, execute Boeing normal and non-normal procedures to the letter, and deliver safe, efficient operations. You’ll exercise sound judgement in dynamic conditions, uphold robust CRM, and ensure regulatory and operational compliance at all times.
- Command commercial jet operations under Part 121 standards.
- Apply Boeing SOPs and company procedures with precision.
- Lead and mentor the crew, fostering a just culture and exemplary CRM.
- Navigate complex ATC airspace and adhere to published procedures.
- Champion safety, compliance, and operational excellence on every sector.
🧰 Minimum requirements
- Total time: Minimum 5,000 hours TT (Essential)
- PIC hours (Option 1): 2,000 hours PIC on >50T MTOW aircraft (Essential)
- PIC hours (Option 2): 1,000 hours PIC on B737 or similar type (Essential)
- Recency: PIC on a large commercial airliner under Part 121 within the last 24 months (e.g., B737 or equivalent such as Airbus) (Essential)
- Licence: ATPL — ICAO accepted (Essential)
- Medical: Class 1 (Essential)
- English proficiency: ELP Level 4 or higher (Essential)
- Type rating: Not required — training provided (Essential)
Flight time notes: Minimum of 5,000 hours TT and 2,000 PIC >50T (Essential) OR 5,000 hours TT and 1,000 PIC 737 or similar (Essential).

- Education: Grade 12 or equivalent (Essential)
- Working pattern: Ability to work irregular hours (Essential)
- Training bond: Willing to sign an Upgrade Training Bond (Essential)
- Regulatory knowledge: Strong knowledge of South African CARS and CATS
- ATC proficiency: Knowledge of ATC airspace and procedures
- Procedures: Knowledge of Doc 8168
- Operator & OEM procedures: Excellent knowledge of the Safair OM, Boeing SOPs — Normal & Non‑Normal
