Join Sunwest as a Beechcraft 1900 Captain and combine precision flying with exceptional customer service. This permanent position is ideal for a professional aviator who leads from the front, makes sound decisions, and champions safety every single day. Non-Type Rated candidates are welcome—type training is provided, with travel to the United States for training as required.
✈️ The opportunity
As Captain on the Beechcraft 1900, you’ll lead safe, efficient, and customer-focused operations across Canada, the United States, Mexico, the Caribbean, South America, and Western Europe. You’ll set the tone for professionalism on every sector while adhering to Sunwest’s Safety Management System (SMS) and delivering a polished experience for every passenger.
🧭 What you’ll do
- Exercise full Captaincy: plan, brief, and execute flights to the highest standard, managing crew and operational risk.
- Champion safety: adhere to the accountabilities set out in Sunwest’s SMS manual and foster a just, reporting culture.
- Make timely, well-reasoned decisions in dynamic environments while maintaining operational efficiency.
- Deliver excellent customer service—professional, personable, and solution-oriented on every leg.
- Coordinate effectively with Dispatch, Maintenance, and Ground Operations to ensure on-time performance.
- Maintain meticulous records, checklists, and flight documentation with strong attention to detail.
- Support training and checking activities as required, including travel to the United States for training.
🧰 Minimum qualifications
- Total time: 3,000 hours
- Pilot-in-command (PIC): 1,800 hours
- Multi-engine: 1,500 hours
- Multi-engine PIC: 900 hours
- License: ATPL (TCCA)
- Medical: Class 1
- ICAO ELP: Level 4 or higher
- Type rating: Not required (training provided; NTR welcome)
🌟 Preferred
- Time on type (Beechcraft 1900)—preference given to candidates with recent, relevant experience.
🔐 Compliance & eligibility
- Valid Canadian passport or Canadian resident status with visas permitting unrestricted travel within Canada, the United States, Mexico, the Caribbean, South America, and Western Europe.
- Willing and able to travel to the United States for training.
- Eligible to obtain and maintain a RAIC.
- Successful completion of a criminal background check.
