Occidental Petroleum (Oxy) is seeking a seasoned aviation leader to join our Houston-based Flight Department. As a Senior Captain, you will execute safe, efficient domestic and worldwide missions while mentoring crew members and elevating our safety-first culture. Depending on assignment, you will serve as PIC or SIC, modeling professionalism, sound judgment, and exceptional passenger service on every flight.

🧭 What you’ll do

  • Serve as PIC or SIC for domestic and worldwide operations, exercising appropriate operational authority and judgment.
  • Lead international trip planning and coordination, ensuring seamless global missions and elevated passenger service.
  • Apply advanced knowledge of international operations, CFR requirements, ICAO Annexes, navigation procedures, and operational considerations.
  • Maintain expert knowledge of assigned aircraft systems, performance, procedures, and company policies.
  • Verify aircraft airworthiness and ensure required documentation, publications, and operational materials are current and onboard.
  • Comply with crew duty and flight-time limitations; conduct thorough preflight and post-flight activities, including crew briefings and operational risk assessments.
  • Coordinate closely with maintenance and support functions to optimize safety and dispatch reliability.
  • Safeguard confidential information; build professional relationships with regulators, industry partners, and the aviation community.
  • Champion Oxy’s Safety Management System (SMS) through risk management, safety assurance, and safety promotion; recommend departmental safety standards.
  • Prepare tactical plans, monitor industry developments, and recommend policies and equipment enhancements.
  • Serve on the Aviation Incident Management Team; contribute to departmental projects and set annual SMART goals.
  • Support an inclusive, collaborative team environment while upholding Oxy’s core values and training standards.

🧰 What you’ll bring

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Residence in, or willingness to relocate to, Houston, Texas.
  • At least five years of corporate/business aviation experience.
  • Valid ATP certificate with Gulfstream G650 and/or G280 type rating.
  • Minimum 5,000 hours total time; 3,000 hours PIC; 2,500 hours turbojet; 1,500 hours multi-engine PIC.
  • Current FAA First Class Medical; proficiency in spoken and written English.
  • Restricted FCC Radiotelephone Operator Permit, valid driver’s license, and valid passport with no travel restrictions.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Demonstrated excellence in safety leadership, customer service, professionalism, CRM, judgment, and emotional intelligence.

🌟 Preferred qualifications

  • 5+ years supporting routine international flight operations.
  • Experience operating in the Middle East.

🧾 Compliance, licenses & standards

  • License required: ATP (Unrestricted or Restricted) with G650 and/or G280 type rating.
  • Strict adherence to applicable Federal Aviation Regulations, Aircraft Flight Manual and Certificate of Airworthiness requirements, company policies, procedures, and standard aviation practices.
  • Ongoing compliance with regulatory and Oxy training requirements.

  • Ability to travel up to 75%.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation.
