Draken is recruiting experienced Islander Captains to operate the BN2T in Northern Ireland. As Captain, you will hold ultimate responsibility for safety, security, and mission execution whenever the aircraft is operated under the sole supervision of the crew. You will also be a key interface with our customers, safeguarding the Company’s reputation, competitive position, and commercial success.
🧭 The mission
Lead safe, compliant, and timely flight operations on the BN2T Islander, setting the standard for crew performance and customer service. You will ensure robust decision-making, effective risk management, and clear communication from pre-flight through post-flight, while maintaining command status on the major aircraft type engaged in the role.
🧰 Key responsibilities
- Exercise full command authority for all phases of flight, ensuring the highest standards of safety and security.
- Deliver contracted flight operations to scope, schedule, and quality requirements.
- Act as a primary customer interface, representing Draken’s values and operational excellence.
- Lead and mentor aircrew, promoting disciplined airmanship and effective Crew Resource Management.
- Apply flight operations management practices, documentation, and reporting standards.
- Coordinate with operations, engineering, and planning teams to optimise aircraft availability and mission readiness.
- Use Microsoft Office tools for briefs, reports, and operational record-keeping.
🌟 What you’ll bring
- Proven experience in the management of aircrew and delivery of contracted flight operations.
- Sound understanding of flight operations management practices and values.
- Competence with the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Experience in civil flight operations is required.
- Experience in military or government aviation is desirable.
- Working knowledge of business management principles, including budget setting and control.
- Strong domain knowledge of customer operational requirements and customer platform capabilities.
- Ability to achieve and maintain the highest level of UK national security clearance.
🎯 Minimum requirements
- Flight time: Minimum 1000 hours PIC.
- Licence: UK CAA CPL with IR and ME.
- Medical: Class 1.
- English proficiency: ICAO ELP Level 4 or higher.
- Type rating: Not required — training provided.
- Maintain command status on the primary aircraft type used in the role.
- Suitably qualified and experienced as a pilot.
- Security clearance: Ability to achieve and maintain the highest level of UK national security clearance for this position.
