Part-Time Simulator Second-in-Command (SIC) — Teterboro Area, NJ
FlightSafety International is hiring a part-time Simulator Second-in-Command to support customer training at our Moonachie, NJ location serving the Teterboro aviation community. In this non-instructor role, you’ll fly right seat in advanced simulators for multi-crew aircraft, ensuring customer pilots can complete initial, recurrent, or generic training to the highest standard.

You’ll serve as a qualified SIC in high-fidelity simulators for internal and external customers under Part 142, Part 135, and non-FAA training programs. This position focuses purely on flying duties in the simulator — no instructional responsibilities.
🧭 What you’ll do
- Act as SIC for customer pilots training in multi-crew aircraft when they arrive without a flying partner.
- Maintain SIC pilot qualification and currency in assigned simulator programs and aircraft types.
- Support training events across initial, recurrent, and generic curricula for Part 142, Part 135, and non-FAA clients.
- Comply with FlightSafety International Quality Management Systems (QMS) processes and procedures.
- Keep all required certificates, ratings, and designations current and in good standing.
🧰 What you’ll bring
- Commercial Pilot Certificate (CPL) with appropriate category, class, and instrument ratings.
- Minimum 450 hours total flight time.
- High school diploma or GED; 2–3 years of related experience/training or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Fluency in spoken and written English; strong cockpit communication and professional customer interaction skills. A second language may be required at some Learning Centers.
- Adaptability to changing schedules and the ability to perform under pressure in a fast-paced training environment.
- Physical capability to operate rudder/anti-torque controls with both feet; manipulate simulator controls; enter/exit the simulator via its ramp; and safely egress a malfunctioned simulator in a severely pitched attitude.
- Meets required visual standards; able to lift/move up to 10 lbs regularly and 25 lbs frequently.
- Comfort with occasional exposure to simulator work-environment conditions including moving mechanical parts, heights, outdoor conditions, chemicals, temperature extremes, electrical shock, radiation, and vibration.
- Eligible for employment following compliance reviews and OFAC screening; export-control eligibility under ITAR/EAR may be required; ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance if needed.
