🧭 The role
As a First Officer on the ATR or Dash 8 Q300, you will play a pivotal role in safely and efficiently flying our customers to their destinations throughout New Zealand.
- Operate regional services with an unwavering focus on safety, SOP compliance, and on-time performance.
- Support the Captain through effective CRM, clear communication, and sound decision-making.
- Complete thorough pre- and post-flight duties, including flight planning, performance calculations, and aircraft systems monitoring.
- Uphold Air New Zealand’s service standards with professionalism and care for our customers.

🧰 Training & progression
- Comprehensive type training on the ATR or Dash 8 Q300 provided — no prior type rating required.
- Ongoing recurrent training, checks, and standards to keep you sharp.
- Clear internal pathways, including the potential to progress to jet fleets, subject to business needs and performance.
🌟 What you’ll bring
- Minimum total time: 500 hours.
- Instrument flight time: 40 hours; Night: 25 hours.
- Licences: NZCAA CPL with IR and ME.
- Medical: Class 1.
- English proficiency: ICAO ELP Level 6.
- Endorsements: NZCAA BTK/BGT.
- Passport & travel: Ability to travel overseas may be required; valid passport with visas as required.
- Type rating: Not required — training provided.
Preferred: ATPL (NZCAA) or all ATPL subjects passed.

Positions are based across multiple locations in New Zealand. You’ll operate on our regional network, connecting towns and cities nationwide.
