✈️ Lead DHC‑8 Captain (PIC) for Overseas Part 135 Operations

Berry Aviation is seeking an experienced Captain / Pilot in Command to operate the DHC‑8 in overseas (OCONUS) environments, including austere deployments across Africa, in support of U.S. Government contract missions under 14 CFR Part 135.   • Aircraft: De Havilland Canada DHC‑8
  • Clearance: Ability to obtain and maintain U.S. Government Secret
  • Minimum PIC Hours: 1,500 (including 500 multi‑engine PIC)

🧭 What you’ll do

  • Plan and execute assigned missions, gathering intel on purpose, weather, procedures, and special instructions.
  • Prepare flight plans factoring altitude, terrain, weather, range, weight and balance, cruise data, airport facilities, and navaids.
  • Ensure each flight is released in full compliance with FAR Part 135 and that all required documentation is on board.
  • Verify airworthiness: confirm required inspections are current and discrepancies are corrected or properly deferred per the aircraft MEL.
  • Conduct thorough preflight inspections and complete preflight preparations, including a risk assessment for every flight.
  • Operate flights per company procedures, customer requirements, FAA regulations, approved flight plans, and operational schedules.
  • Lead effective CRM: brief crew on flight particulars and any changes to plans, loads, or environment.
  • Communicate safety, compliance, and airworthiness issues per the Air Carrier manual and on-site/Program Manager expectations.
  • Maintain accurate flight, aircraft, and mission records; participate in the Safety Management System (SMS) and required training, checks, and recurrent evaluations.

🧰 What you’ll bring

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • FAA Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) Certificate with Multi‑Engine Land rating (ATP Unrestricted or Restricted).
  • Current FAA First Class Medical Certificate.
  • Current U.S. passport with at least six months validity remaining.
  • Minimum 1,500 hours PIC time, including 500 hours multi‑engine PIC.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Secret security clearance.
  • Strong aeronautical decision-making, leadership, and CRM skills; proven ability to operate in austere/international environments.

🌟 Preferred qualifications

  • 3,000+ hours total flight time.
  • 1,200+ hours multi‑engine turbine time.
  • Previous DHC‑8 and Part 135 operational experience.
  • Aerial delivery experience.
  • Night Vision Goggle (NVG) operations experience.
  • Experience supporting U.S. Government contracts in OCONUS or austere environments.

📦 Deployment & mission conditions

  • International travel and extended deployments in Africa.
  • Operate in remote, austere, and demanding environments.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and fly duty periods of up to 10 hours.
  • Adherence to company policies, customer requirements, and FAA regulations at all times.

Note: This role supports U.S. Government contract work; mission needs may drive schedule, location, and duration of deployments.
