Join a tight-knit, remote-deployed crew flying the legendary C‑130/L‑100 Hercules. As First Officer, you’ll operate in low‑altitude environments, support the Captain in all phases of flight, and travel on select domestic and international deployments. This permanent role welcomes NTR candidates — type training provided.
✈️ About the role
Operate the C‑130/L‑100 Hercules as First Officer on mission-oriented flights, executing low‑level profiles and supporting safe, efficient operations far from base. You’ll work as part of a small, self‑sufficient crew from locations away from IAR‘s headquarters, typically deploying no more than twice per year.
🧭 What you’ll do
- Perform all FO duties in a low‑altitude environment on the C‑130/L‑100 Hercules.
- Assist the Captain with flight planning, performance, checklist execution, navigation, and systems monitoring.
- Operate effectively as part of a small crew in remote locations away from headquarters.
- Uphold SOPs, CRM, and risk management for mission safety and compliance.
- Support ground and mission logistics as needed to enable on‑time, on‑target operations.
🧰 Minimum requirements
- Licensing: CPL, IR, ME — FAA license holders.
- Medical: FAA Class 2.
- Flight time: Copilot flight time minimum 2,000 hours.
- Type Rating: Not required — training provided (NTR candidates welcome).
- Travel readiness: Available to travel domestically & internationally without restrictions; able to be away from the local area and/or U.S. for up to 45 days or more per deployment (typically no more than twice per year).
- Work style: Ability to work remotely as part of a small crew from a location away from IAR’s headquarters.
🌟 Preferred experience
- 500 hours heavy aircraft experience.
🧳 Travel & deployment
Expect occasional deployments supporting missions across the U.S. and abroad. Deployments can extend to 45+ days and generally occur no more than twice annually. You’ll operate independently with your crew, maintaining high standards of professionalism, safety, and adaptability while away from base.
