Air Medical Pilot in Command (Fixed‑Wing) – Page, AZ

🧭 What you’ll do

• Serve as Pilot in Command for fixed‑wing medical transport flights under Federal Aviation Regulations, manufacturer guidance, and Intermountain policies.
• Exercise sound, independent judgment in preflight planning, weather and risk assessment, and all phases of flight.
• Communicate clearly and promptly with pilots, medical crew, communication specialists, patients, and families; facilitate team-based decision making.
• Evaluate transport requests against service criteria and guidelines to ensure safe, appropriate mission acceptance.
• Ensure aircraft readiness, cleanliness, and proper function; replenish consumables such as oxygen and engine oil.
• Support patient care operations by moving bags, directing and assisting with loading/unloading patients.
• Use non‑transport time for training, currency, professional development, and crew education.
• Participate in flight reviews, team training, and quality improvement activities; complete accurate, timely documentation.

🧰 Qualifications & flight minimums

• Total time: Minimum 2,500 hours in airplanes (overall requirement). Note: multi‑engine assignments require higher totals (see below).
• External candidates — Single‑Engine aircraft:
  • Commercial Pilot Certificate with Airplane category/class and Instrument–Airplane rating.
  • Eligible to complete an ATP CTP course within one year of employment.
  • ≥ 2,500 hours in airplanes.
• External candidates — Multi‑Engine aircraft:
  • ATP (Multi‑Engine Land) required.
  • ≥ 3,000 hours in airplanes, including: ≥ 1,000 multi‑engine; ≥ 200 night (airplane); ≥ 300 instrument (≥ 100 actual); ≥ 500 PIC in multi‑engine airplane; ≥ 500 PIC in turbine airplane.
• Internal candidates:
  • Commercial Pilot Certificate (Airplane) with Instrument–Airplane rating.
  • ATP CTP completed prior to aircraft training.
  • ≥ 2,000 hours in airplanes and two years of continuous service as an Intermountain Health pilot.
  • Night and instrument hour requirements as noted above also apply.
• Licenses/Ratings accepted: CPL; ATP (Unrestricted or Restricted as applicable to assignment and regulations).
• Communication: Effective verbal communication and hearing required.

🌟 Preferred experience

• Air medical/EMS flight experience.
• ≥ 100 hours PIC in King Air 90/200.
• ≥ 50 hours PIC in Pilatus PC‑12.
• ≥ 200 hours turbojet time (for turbojet operations).

🛡️ Safety, physical, and operational requirements

• Lift, move, and support aviation/clinical equipment; lift at least 50 lbs.
• Assist with patient transfers; use stairs and aircraft equipment safely.
• Read monitors and documents; maneuver in confined aircraft spaces, including on hands and knees as needed.
• Maintain a safe environment for pilots, medical crewmembers, and patients at all times.
