Join Skybus or Aurigny as a Captain on the rugged and reliable DHC‑6‑300 Twin Otter. Fly purposeful regional missions between the UK mainland, St Mary’s in the Isles of Scilly, and the Channel Islands—plus ad hoc charter work. Non‑type rated Captains are welcome; full type training provided.
🧭 The Opportunity
As a DHC‑6 Captain, you will operate multi-crew on short, characterful regional sectors that keep remote communities connected. Choose a base on the UK mainland with Skybus or in Guernsey with Aurigny. Expect a mix of scheduled services between the UK mainland and St Mary’s in the Isles of Scilly, as well as between the UK mainland and the Channel Islands—with opportunities to exchange between operators and to fly ad hoc charter operations as required.
🧰 What You’ll Bring
- Total Time: 1,500 hours
- Multi‑Engine: 500 hours
- Licences: Frozen ATPL with IR, MCC, ME, and UPRT
- Authority: UK CAA licence holders
- Medical: Class 1
- English Proficiency: ICAO Level 4+
- Right to Work: Right to live and work in the UK
- Security: Able to provide employer references covering the last 5 years for airside pass
🌟 Preferred Experience
- Current or previous DHC‑6 Twin Otter type rating
- Turboprop flight experience
- Light multi‑engine time (e.g., King Air, Shorts Skyvan, Islander, Trislander)
- Tailwheel, gliding, or similar hands‑on handling experience
📍 Bases & Network
- UK Mainland: Operate with Skybus on routes to/from St Mary’s, Isles of Scilly
- Guernsey: Operate with Aurigny across the Channel Islands and to/from the UK mainland
- Charters: Opportunities for ad hoc charter flying
- Exchange: Potential to exchange between operators
🎓 Training & Progression
- NTR Welcome: Non‑type rated Captains considered — full DHC‑6 training provided
- Aircraft: DHC‑6‑300 series in multi‑crew operations
All flying is conducted under CAA-approved procedures and the applicable FTL scheme.
📝 Notes
- Permanent roles with full-time or part-time patterns available subject to roster.
- Visa sponsorship is not available; applicants must already have UK work rights.
