Based in Anchorage, you’ll serve as Second in Command on the Saab 2000 in a Part 121 operation—backed by a safety-first culture, disciplined CRM, and a tight-knit team that takes pride in doing things right.
✈️ About the role
As SIC on the Saab 2000, you’ll partner closely with the Captain to plan and execute each flight in accordance with company policy and FARs (14 CFR). You’ll bring strong systems knowledge, disciplined checklist use, and calm, professional airmanship to every leg—especially in Alaska’s dynamic weather environment.
🧭 What you’ll do
- Support the Captain with comprehensive preflight planning using current weather, NOTAMs, performance data, and company guidance.
- Operate the Saab 2000 to the highest standards, maintaining thorough systems and procedures knowledge.
- Execute all duties assigned in flight; maintain strict adherence to SOPs, checklists, and sterile cockpit procedures.
- Employ CRM with “Assertiveness with Respect” to elevate team performance and safety.
- Coordinate effectively with dispatch, maintenance, and ground teams to ensure safe, on-time operations.
- Carry and present all required certificates and documents for flight duties.
- Participate fully in training, checking, and recurrent events to continuously sharpen skills.
- Assume command only if required due to PIC incapacitation; otherwise, delegate only within the scope of SIC authority.
- Uphold company policies and the Sterling Airways Team Member Handbook at all times.
🧰 What you bring
- ATP minimums required; ATP certificate preferred (accepts ATP Unrestricted or Restricted ATP meeting ATP mins).
- Current FAA First Class Medical.
- Ability to pass full DOT background checks and initial/random drug screening.
- Multi-engine experience.
- Physical ability to perform all essential job functions.
- Prior Part 121 SIC experience in the Saab 2000 strongly preferred.
Note: Candidates must meet all regulatory and company qualifications prior to assignment to line operations.
