Help shape the next generation of safe, confident aviators. As a Pilot Training & Qualifications Specialist, you’ll design high-impact curricula, elevate training standards, and ensure full compliance with FAA regulations—keeping crews mission-ready and operations uncompromisingly safe.

✈️ The opportunity

In this role, you’ll blend operational insight with instructional design to build, deliver, and continuously improve pilot training programs across initial, recurrent, differences, and upgrade pathways. You’ll partner with Flight Ops, Safety, and Quality to align training with real-world performance data, ensuring every syllabus is rigorous, relevant, and regulation-ready.

  • Own end-to-end pilot training lifecycle—from needs analysis to evaluation and recurrent optimization.
  • Advance training effectiveness through data-driven enhancements, scenario design, and modern learning tools.
  • Serve as a subject-matter resource on standards, qualification paths, and check requirements.

🧭 What you’ll do

  • Design and maintain syllabus content, lesson plans, and assessments for initial, recurrent, and upgrade training, including classroom, CBT, simulator, and line-oriented scenarios.
  • Coordinate qualification and currency programs in alignment with FAR Parts 91K/121/135 as applicable, including AQP, LOE, and proficiency checks.
  • Develop scenario-based training emphasizing CRM, threat and error management, stabilized approach criteria, and SOP adherence.
  • Author and update training manuals, guides, and policy documents in concert with Flight Standards and Safety.
  • Conduct or oversee ground/simulator instruction; support evaluations, standardization, and instructor development.
  • Leverage LMS data, check results, and safety reports to identify gaps and drive continuous improvement.
  • Maintain precise training and qualification records to meet regulatory and internal audit requirements.
  • Collaborate with fleet leadership, dispatch, and maintenance to integrate operational changes into training quickly and accurately.
  • Support external audits and regulatory interactions; ensure timely corrective actions and documentation control.

🧰 What you’ll bring

  • Professional experience in pilot training, flight operations, or aviation instructional design; airline, charter, or corporate flight department background preferred.
  • Working knowledge of FAA regulations and qualification standards; exposure to Part 121/135/91K environments.
  • Experience creating syllabi, lesson plans, and assessments; strong grasp of adult learning principles and scenario-based training.
  • Proficiency with LMS/CBT authoring tools and comfort using data to inform training improvements.
  • Excellent communication skills and a knack for translating complex procedures into clear, teachable content.
  • Nice to have: ATP or commercial certificate, current/previous Check Airman or TCE authorization, AQP program experience, or instructional design certification.

📍 Location, schedule, and travel

  • Primary base: Tysons (McLean), VA, with flexibility for periodic remote work as business needs allow.
  • Travel: Up to 20% to training centers, simulators, and operating bases for instructional support and audits.
