Mission Aviation Fellowship (MAF) is inviting Papua New Guinean pilots with a Commercial Pilot’s Licence to take the next decisive step in mission aviation. This full-time, 12–18 month internship blends targeted flight training in Mareeba, Australia with real-world flying alongside experienced MAF pilots in PNG’s challenging terrain—guiding you on a structured pathway toward Pilot in Command.

✈️ About the Internship

This programme builds on your existing qualifications through focused training, mentoring, and operational exposure. You’ll gain hands-on experience that integrates technical proficiency with character formation and a heart to serve—preparing you for safe, effective mission flying across PNG.

🧭 What You’ll Experience

  • Capability assessment to identify strengths and gaps, informing a tailored development plan.
  • Targeted flight training at MAF’s Flight Training Centre in Mareeba to prepare for PNG’s unique topography and performance demands.
  • Operational flying in PNG alongside experienced MAF pilots—progressing as First Officer or Pilot in Command as authorised and competent.
  • A structured pathway toward flying as Pilot in Command, subject to meeting all standards and approvals.
  • Regular assessments, feedback and support that consider aviation skills, motivation, work ethic, character and spiritual maturity.

🧰 What You’ll Bring

  • ICAO-recognised CPL.
  • Papua New Guinean citizenship.
  • English proficiency (IELTS 5.5 minimum).
  • Successful completion of MAF’s selection assessments.
  • A genuine interest in aviation and Christian mission; willingness to accept and align with MAF’s purpose, vision and values.
  • Ability to commit to a full-time 12–18 month programme.
  • Current, or evidence of a previous, Class 1 medical from a Designated Aviation Medical Examiner.
  • Readiness to meet financial and practical commitments, including fundraising and sponsorship expectations.
