Based in Tamworth, Airspeed Aviation is growing across NSW and is seeking an experienced instructor and team leader who thrives on developing pilots, delivering exceptional customer service, and leading operations across a diverse fleet.

🧭 The Opportunity

As our Lead Flight Instructor & Charter Captain, you will split your time between conducting multi-engine charter operations and delivering advanced flight instruction. You will mentor instructors and line pilots, shape training standards, and help drive safe, efficient growth across our regional bases—offering a compelling career path outside the major city hubs.

🧰 What You’ll Do

  • Lead and mentor instructors and pilots; foster a safety-first, customer-focused culture.
  • Deliver flight instruction across a diverse fleet, including IFR and night operations.
  • Conduct multi-engine charter flights, ensuring exemplary hospitality and client care.
  • Oversee student pipeline management, scheduling, and progress tracking.
  • Champion training quality, standardisation, and continuous improvement.
  • Travel regularly across NSW and interstate for charter and training duties (overnights required).

🌟 What You’ll Bring

  • Australian citizen or current right to work in Australia, and currently living in Australia.
  • Current Australian CPL with unrestricted Class 1 Medical.
  • Current Australian ME-IR; IFR and Night Training Endorsements.
  • GTE and PXS.
  • Instructor Rating with Grade 2 endorsement, Design Feature training (DFE), and IFR training endorsements.
  • More than 1000 hours TTIS.
  • Charter experience on both SEA and MEA aircraft.
  • Previous experience on Baron/Cessna C310.
  • Previous experience on any of the following is highly regarded: C414, PA31, C404, C441, B200, TBM, PC12.
  • Tailwheel and aerobatics training experience on Super Decathlon.
  • Cirrus Standard Instructor Program (CSIP) certification.
  • Proven hospitality and customer service skills, with the ability to manage time, student pipeline, and stakeholder contacts independently.
