✈️ King Air Captain – Air Ambulance
Join Toll Aviation and fly with purpose. We’re seeking experienced captains to operate our King Air B260/B360 fleet on a permanent air ambulance contract, based in Melbourne. You’ll fly single‑pilot IFR, working shoulder‑to‑shoulder with highly skilled Flight Paramedics and clinical staff to deliver life‑saving retrievals and patient transfers across Victoria and interstate. All shifts commence and finish at Essendon.
🧭 The mission
Provide timely, safe and compassionate aeromedical transport. You’ll execute SPIFR departures and approaches, manage dynamic tasking, and collaborate closely with clinical teams to ensure patients receive rapid, high‑quality care from bedside to bedside.
🧰 What you’ll do
- Operate King Air B260/B360 aircraft single‑pilot for emergency retrievals and patient transfers across Victoria and into other states.
- Conduct thorough flight planning, performance, fuel, and weight & balance for IFR/terrain/WAAS/RNAV operations as applicable.
- Execute safe, efficient SPIFR operations in all weather, day and night, in accordance with CASA regulations and company SOPs.
- Apply strong CRM, threat and error management, and clear communication with Flight Paramedics, dispatch, ATC, and hospitals.
- Uphold aircraft care standards, accurate flight/tech records, and a continuous improvement mindset.
- Represent Toll Aviation professionally with patients, clinical teams, and partner agencies.
🌟 What you’ll bring (Minimum)
- CASA ATPL (or CPL with all ATPL theory subjects completed).
- 1,500 hours PIC.
- 100 hours Night PIC.
- 250 hours Instrument time (min. 125 hours in‑flight).
- Current Multi‑Engine Instrument Rating with a minimum of 3 renewals.
- Class 1 medical and ICAO English Level 4+.
- Ability to thrive in a multi‑disciplinary team and high‑tempo environment.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Working With Children Check and an ASIC.
- Existing right to work in Australia (visa sponsorship not provided).
🧩 Highly regarded
- Prior experience on the King Air B260 and/or B360.
- 1,000 hours Turbine PIC.
- Check & Training or mentoring background.
Note: Type rating is not required — comprehensive induction and aircraft training provided.
📍 Where you’ll be
All duties start and finish at Essendon Fields, serving communities across metropolitan, regional, and remote Victoria, with interstate tasks as required.
