King Air 350 Captain – Special Missions (SAR), Prestwick

✈️ The Opportunity

Join 2Excel Aviation’s Special Missions division as a Captain and help deliver next‑generation surveillance and SAR capability for UK Government and industry customers. Based in Prestwick, you’ll operate the King Air 350 on varied, mission-led sorties across the UK and neighbouring states — by day and by night — alongside a First Officer and onboard Sensor Operator. This is impactful flying where your decisions directly support the protection of life.

🧭 What You’ll Do

• Fly multi-crew King Air 350 missions supporting 24/7/365 specialist aviation services.
• Conduct surveillance tasks and life-saving SAR support throughout the UK and neighbouring states.
• Work closely with a First Officer and Sensor Operator to deliver high-quality mission outcomes.
• Maintain aircraft and crew mission-readiness for rapid, critical deployments.
• Embrace varied, challenging operations beyond routine point-to-point transport flying.

🧰 What You’ll Bring

• Licences: UK CPL or ATPL with Instrument Rating; Class 1 Medical.
• Total time: 1,500 hours minimum.
• Pilot-in-Command (PIC): 750 hours minimum.
• Instrument/Night: 100 hours instrument time and 100 hours night flying.
• Type experience: 100+ hours on King Air Series (or equivalent at the discretion of the Director of Flight Operations).
• Type rating: Current King Air 350 rating highly desirable; not essential (training provided).
• Clearance/Other: Ability to obtain UK Security Clearance and hold a valid UK Driving Licence.
• Desirable: Experience in similar military, police, or coastguard operations; proven leadership of pilots or managing operations from a forward operating base.

🎓 Training & Progression

Structured training is provided, with most activity conducted at Humberside. Accommodation and suitable allowances are provided throughout the training period.

• Candidates without a current King Air 350 type rating may spend up to three weeks away from home for simulator training.
• Training costs (estimated at £20,000) are covered subject to a two-year repayment bond, reducing by 25% every six months.
