Join SriLankan Airlines’ structured pathway designed for experienced Sri Lankan pilots to transition into a professional airline cockpit, build toward future command, and train within an ATO alongside seasoned instructors and line pilots.
✈️ About the programme
SriLankan Airlines’ Junior First Officer Programme is a professional development pathway for qualified pilots to refine airline-operational skills, progress toward aircraft command, and embed best practices in safety, teamwork, and customer-focused operations. Training is delivered through SriLankan’s ATO and guided by experienced aviation professionals.
🧭 What you’ll do
- Train alongside senior instructors and line professionals to build advanced cockpit competencies.
- Apply standard operating procedures, CRM, and safety management principles in a structured learning environment.
- Contribute to a positive, high-performance team culture that supports safe and efficient operations.
Note: This posting describes a structured training and development pathway; separate day-to-day line-flight duties are not individually listed.
🧰 What you’ll bring
- Current ATPL issued by the CAASL.
- Valid Class 1 Medical Certificate.
- 3,000+ hours total flying time, including 500+ hours on turbine or jet aircraft.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from a university recognized by the University Grants Commission (Sri Lanka).
- Sri Lankan citizenship and age not exceeding 45 years on 21 September 2026.
- Fluency in English, strong interpersonal skills, and proven teamwork.
- Demonstrated exposure to information technology and modern cockpit systems.
- Current Multi Engine Rating.
🌟 Training investment & bond
- Training is delivered through SriLankan Airlines’ ATO as an investment in your professional development.
- Training costs will be recovered via salary deductions over a pre-agreed period.
- Selected candidates will be bonded to the organization for the duration of the recovery period.

- Completed Junior First Officer application form.
- National Identity Card (NIC).
- Pilot licence (CAASL ATPL) and Class 1 Medical.
- Proof of Multi Engine Rating.
- Certified copy of bachelor’s or master’s degree (UGC-recognized, Sri Lanka).
