Join Ascend Airways at launch and help shape a new UK AOC ACMI airline. As a Boeing 737 Captain, you’ll be part of a small, agile NG and MAX fleet based at London Gatwick, reporting to the Director of Flight Operations and enjoying genuine career progression as the airline grows within the Avia Solutions Group project.

  • Reports to: Director of Flight Operations
  • Employment: Full-time
  • Roster options: Standard Full-Time or 20/10 commuting option
  • Salary: £120,000 + Flight pay: £18.90 per block hour
  • Pension: 6% employer contribution
  • Licence: ATPL (UK preferred). EASA ATPL accepted with UK conversion support

🧭 The role

Be a key member of the start-up flight operations team, flying busy summer ACMI programs with quieter winter rosters. You’ll operate across the NG and MAX fleet, support night-stopping duties, and occasionally undertake winter assignments of up to two weeks away from base. This is a hands-on Captaincy with the opportunity to influence standards and culture from day one.

  • Operate Boeing 737 NG/MAX sectors safely, efficiently, and to company SOPs
  • Lead and mentor crew, fostering a strong safety and service culture
  • Contribute to launch readiness and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Represent Ascend Airways professionally with customers and partners

🗓️ Roster & lifestyle

  • Busy summer flying; quieter winter schedules with the option to take additional time off
  • Night-stopping required; occasional winter deployments of up to two weeks away from base
  • Choice of Standard Full-Time pattern or a 20/10 commuting option

🧰 What you’ll bring

  • Right to work: Unrestricted right to live and work in the United Kingdom
  • Medical: Class One without restrictions other than for spectacles/contact lenses
  • Language: ELP Level 5 or higher
  • Proximity: Home address within 90 minutes’ travel of London Gatwick
  • Licence: UK ATPL and medical preferred; EASA ATPL welcome (UK licence conversion required before joining – assistance provided)
  • Type rating: Boeing 737 type rating current or expired by no more than two years
  • Experience: 3,000+ hours total time and 500+ hours PIC on Boeing 737
  • Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills

🧭 Standard Full-Time Captain terms

  • Minimum 10 days off per month
  • 42 days’ annual holiday
  • Maximum of 8 days’ leave between 1 June and 15 September
  • Three guaranteed golden days off at base each year

🧭 Full-Time Captain 20/10 option

  • 20/10 roster with EU commuting permitted
  • Accommodation and per diem provided while on duty
  • Economy flights provided on first and last duty day
  • 10 days off per month and 24 days’ annual holiday
