Floatplane Pilot – Mission Aviation (Western Province, Papua New Guinea)

Join a faith-based, mission-driven team operating to rigorous commercial standards. You’ll deliver safe, professional floatplane operations while partnering with local organisations to support medical evacuations, essential-supply transport, and community development across rivers, lakes and waterways where access is only possible by air.

🧭 What you’ll do

• Plan, brief and conduct flights in compliance with MAF and national aviation regulations (VFR/IFR as permitted), prioritising safety in remote and variable conditions.
• Carry out thorough pre-flight and post-flight inspections; identify and troubleshoot potential mechanical issues and coordinate rectification.
• Program, monitor and maintain navigation and communication systems; manage fuel planning and loading/performance for water operations.
• Provide a smooth, professional and friendly in-flight service for passengers and cargo stakeholders.
• Accurately record flight, fuel and weather data; maintain logbooks and complete all required operational paperwork.
• Maintain currency of licences, medicals, checks and training; adhere to safety and quality systems and strong crew resource management.
• Collaborate within a dynamic crew to improve operational efficiency and effectiveness; remain flexible to support medevacs and priority missions.

🧰 What you’ll bring (Essential)

• ICAO CPL with Instrument Rating and valid Class 1 Medical.
• English Language Proficiency Level 6.
• Float endorsement and demonstrated seaplane competence.
• Minimum 1,000 hours total flight time, including at least 100 hours turbine PIC.
• Sound verbal and numerical reasoning aptitude.
• Strong knowledge of aircraft performance and loading, aerodynamics, aircraft systems, weather, instrumentation, CRM, pilot decision-making, and safety/quality systems.
• PNG or comparable remote-area commercial aviation experience.
• Willingness and ability to live and work in a remote location.

🧰 Nice to have (Desirable)

• Cessna Caravan (C208) experience and/or C208 Type Rating.
• CASA PNG CPL.
• 1,200+ hours total time and recent proficiency operating small aircraft to CPL standards.
• Experience in commercial or corporate aviation operations.
• IFR operations experience.
• Additional seaplane/floatplane experience beyond endorsement.
• Proven teamwork, service-oriented mindset, and commitment to ongoing training and development.
