Island Air Service is hiring experienced floatplane pilots for both seasonal and permanent roles in one of aviation’s most spectacular and challenging environments. From scheduled mail runs to remote lodge support and world-class flightseeing, you’ll make a real impact across the Kodiak Archipelago.
✈️ The Role
As a Floatplane Captain, you’ll operate in dynamic coastal and mountainous conditions, connecting communities and guests to Alaska’s wild places. You’ll fly scheduled mail service, point-to-point charters, and support iconic outdoor experiences including bear viewing and flightseeing tours—all within a safety-forward operation that values sound judgment and professionalism.
🧭 What You’ll Do
- Fly to remote camps and lodges throughout the Kodiak region.
- Provide scheduled mail service to outlying communities.
- Operate passenger and cargo charters for outfitters, lodges, and residents.
- Conduct safe, ethical bear-viewing flights and flightseeing tours.
- Perform thorough pre- and post-flight inspections and ensure safe aircraft operations in remote environments.
🧰 What You Bring
- Minimum 1,500 hours total flight time.
- Minimum 500 hours floatplane time.
- Prior Part 135 experience (required).
- Valid CPL with floatplane rating/endorsement.
- Exceptional airmanship, decision-making, and customer service in a demanding operational environment.
