As a BA pilot, your career is never one‑size‑fits‑all: start on short haul and move to one of our long‑haul fleets, or build toward command on short haul — with opportunities to contribute in areas like training and pilot recruitment along the way.

🧰 Minimum requirements

  • Total time: 1500+ hours at time of application for long‑haul consideration
  • Turbine time: 500+ hours
  • Type rating: Required on a relevant aeroplane type (Part‑FCL: multi‑pilot turbo‑jet certified to CS‑25 or equivalent, or multi‑pilot turboprop with MTOM ≥ 10t or >19 passenger seats)
  • Licence: Current UK CAA ATPL(A), fATPL(A) or MPL (with hours to upgrade to ATPL); or a non‑UK ATPL meeting UK CAA Third Country CPL/ATPL conversion routes 1–6 (from 1 Jan 2023)
  • Ratings: Valid IR and ME
  • Medical: Class 1
  • ICAO ELP: Level 6
  • Passport: Valid with at least 12 months remaining
  • Licence holders: Open to UK CAA and EASA
  • ZFTT eligibility: Relevant aeroplane type experience within 12 months prior to ZFTT conversion course commencement

Note: To be considered for a long‑haul position, you must hold >1500 hours total time and ≥500 hours on a relevant aeroplane type at the time of application.

Expect varied, challenging operations and the support of a strong safety and training culture. Depending on operational requirements, you may begin on our short‑haul Airbus fleet with the option to transfer to one of four long‑haul fleets, or remain on short haul and progress to command. Beyond line flying, you’ll find opportunities in training, mentoring, and pilot recruitment.
