Transition your military flying experience into a commercial airline career with British Airways. Based at Heathrow, you will join either our short‑haul Airbus A320 operation or, subject to experience and assessment, one of our long‑haul fleets. 🧭 What you will do
- Put the customer at the centre of every decision, delivering a safe, seamless and memorable flight experience.
- Operate to British Airways’ exacting professional and safety standards in daily commercial service.
- Fly the A320 short‑haul network or, where eligible, join a long‑haul fleet following assessment.
- Demonstrate resilience, sound judgement, leadership and a collaborative, customer‑focused approach.
- Contribute beyond line flying over time, including opportunities in training, recruitment, projects, sustainability and operational management.
🧰 What you will bring
- Recent military (or equivalent) fixed‑wing or rotary flying experience and recognition as a QMP under CAP 2254.
- Short‑haul pathway: Minimum 500 hrs on any military type and ability to obtain a UK fATPL(A) and MCC, or an exemption, by joining.
- Long‑haul pathway: Minimum 1,500 hrs total military time including 500 hrs or 100 sectors on a ZFTT‑qualifying aircraft, plus ability to obtain an unfrozen ATPL(A) and MCC, or an exemption, by joining.
- Recency: qualifying military or equivalent experience within the last 3 years.
- ATPL ground school started; confident an fATPL(A) can be completed and issued within 18 months of application.
- ICAO English Language Proficiency Level 6.
- Valid passport with at least 12 months remaining on joining and unrestricted worldwide travel privileges.
- Right to live and work in the UK.
- Medical: UK CAA Class 1 flight crew medical required before offer (Military A1 accepted at application). Must meet BA medical and physical‑fitness standards.
- Height: normal range 1.57–1.91 m; taller applicants may apply and will complete a functionality check.
- Tattoos: permitted except on the hands, face or head.
