Lead from the left seat as a Type-Rated Training Captain on the Embraer E‑Jet family, shaping standards, mentoring crews, and elevating performance across a multi‑crew, transport‑category jet operation.
✈️ The opportunity
We’re seeking an experienced Embraer E‑Jet professional to join our training and checking team. As a Training Captain, you will champion SOPs, develop pilot capability, and uphold a just culture of safety and performance. This role includes line and simulator duties, coaching and assessing flight crew, and contributing to training design and standardisation across the E170/190 fleet.
🧰 What you’ll do
- Conduct line training, simulator instruction, and checking for E170/E190 flight crew.
- Mentor First Officers and Captains, providing actionable feedback that drives continuous improvement.
- Lead standardisation flights and support recurrent training programs.
- Contribute to training materials, SOP refinement, and best‑practice guidance.
- Support the Safety Management System through robust risk management and reports.
- Model exemplary CRM, decision‑making, and leadership under operational pressure.
🌟 What you’ll bring
- Total time: 4,000 hours minimum.
- Type rating: Current and valid E‑Jet E170/E190 type rating.
- Command on type: Proven command experience on E170/E190.
- Training/checking: Previous experience on multi‑crew, transport‑category jet aircraft.
- License: Unrestricted ATPL (ICAO accepted).
- Medical: Current Class 1.
- English proficiency: ICAO Level 5.
- Demonstrated leadership, coaching mindset, and strong CRM/communication skills.
🛡️ Regulatory and additional requirements
- Ability to obtain an Australian Certificate of Validation and/or Australian ATPL(A).
- Ability to pass a Qantas pre‑employment medical and drug & alcohol test.
- Ability to hold an ASIC.
- A current passport with unrestricted access to all Qantas ports of call and at least 12 months validity.
- Visa sponsorship is provided; willingness to relocate as required.
