Director, Flight Training & Standards (Part 121) – Miami
✈️ Lead Amerijet’s Part 121 Flight Training in Miami
Amerijet is seeking a strategic, hands-on aviation leader to direct our Flight Operations Training Department. As Director, Flight Training & Standards, you will shape training strategy, ensure 14 CFR Part 121 compliance, elevate standardization, and champion safety and performance across our global cargo operation.
🧭 The Opportunity
Own the end-to-end training lifecycle for Amerijet pilots and flight operations personnel—from curriculum design through delivery, records, and continuous improvement. You will lead a high-performing team of instructors and check airmen, steward ETOPS and qualification programs, and embed Safety Risk Management (SRM) into every facet of training.
🧰 What You’ll Do
- Provide visionary leadership for the Flight Operations Training Department, aligning objectives with company goals and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain full compliance with training standards and 14 CFR Part 121, including ETOPS and qualification programs.
- Oversee training delivery and standardization across ground school, simulator, and aircraft training; ensure consistency of techniques, SOPs, and evaluation criteria.
- Direct training records, documentation integrity, and audit readiness.
- Manage curricula development, updates, and approvals; drive innovation in adult learning and evidence-based training methodologies.
- Lead Safety Risk Management (SRM) within training; identify hazards, assess risk, and implement mitigations.
- Plan staffing and scheduling for instructors, check airmen, and designees; manage equipment, vendor relationships, and budget performance.
- Set performance expectations and coach Ground Instructors, Flight Training Instructors, Simulator Instructors, Check Airmen, and Aircrew Designees.
- Partner with Flight Operations, Safety, and Quality to ensure standardization, readiness for checks, and continuous improvement of outcomes.
🌟 What You’ll Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in aviation management, training/adult learning, or equivalent experience.
- Experience as Pilot-in-Command in Part 121 operations.
- Experience as a Line Check Pilot and as a Proficiency Check Pilot.
- Proven success leading an adult learning or training program.
🧠 Preferred Qualifications
- 3+ years of airline management experience.
- 5+ years of Part 121 training experience.
- Ability to demonstrate authorization to work in the U.S.
🧑✈️ Certificates & Ratings
- FAA Airline Transport Pilot (ATP or ATP Restricted) required.
- B-757/767 type rating preferred; company-sponsored type rating available for the right candidate.
