DHC-6 Twin Otter Seaplane Captain – US Virgin Islands (Part 121)

Seaborne Airlines is hiring experienced Twin Otter Captains to operate FAA Part 121 scheduled seaplane services across the US Virgin Islands. Based in St. Croix and flying between St. Croix and St. Thomas, you’ll command the De Havilland DHC-6-300 on water—mastering harbor departures, glassy-water landings, docking, and mooring in dynamic tropical conditions.
✈️ What you’ll do
- Captain the DHC-6-300 on scheduled and charter seaplane services in accordance with FAA Part 121 and company SOPs.
- Execute water operations: harbor takeoffs and landings, water taxi, docking, and mooring with precision and care.
- Perform thorough preflight and postflight planning, inspections, performance calculations, and documentation.
- Coordinate seamlessly with dispatch, ATC, ground support, and passenger services for on-time, safe operations.
- Operate confidently in tropical maritime environments, managing variable sea states, winds, and weather.
- Uphold exemplary CRM, checklist discipline, and safety culture on every leg.
🧰 What you’ll bring (minimum requirements)
- FAA Commercial Multi-Engine Land and Sea rating (CPL).
- FAA Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) written completed.
- FAA First Class Medical Certificate.
- Prior FAA Part 121 or Part 135 operating experience.
- Demonstrated seaplane experience in coastal, island, or open-water environments.
- U.S. citizenship or legal authorization to work in U.S. territories.
🌟 Preferred qualifications
- FAA ATP Certificate with Multi-Engine Land and Sea.
- PIC time on the DHC-6 Twin Otter (floats), Grumman G-73 Mallard, or similar amphib/seaplane types.
- Caribbean or tropical maritime flying experience.
- Strong knowledge of marine and aviation weather systems.
- Proven Crew Resource Management and multicultural communication skills.
