Join Metrea’s aerial firefighting team as a Dash 8 Line Pilot. You’ll execute safe, effective multi‑mission airtanker operations in a multi‑crew environment, applying long‑term retardant with precision where it matters most.

  • Employment: Permanent
  • Operation: AFF multi‑mission airtanker
  • Aircraft: DHC‑8 (Dash 8)
  • Reports to: Aerial Firefighting Head of Flight Operations
  • Type Rating: Not required — training provided (NTR)
  • Licenses: CPL + IR + ME — EASA or FAA
  • Medical: Class 1
  • Currency: ≥100 hours PIC in the last 12 months

🧭 The mission

Deliver precision retardant drops and mission assurance in demanding environments while upholding the highest standards of airmanship and safety.

  • Conduct safe, effective, and efficient AFF Dash 8 airtanker operations in a multi‑crew setting.
  • Plan flights, brief/lead crews, and execute low‑level tactical profiles as conditions dictate.
  • Perform meticulous pre‑flight and turnaround checks; oversee aircraft status and readiness.
  • Coordinate with company schedulers, clients, air attack, and aircrew to facilitate mission execution.
  • Support the development and continuous refinement of SOPs and TTPs.
  • Participate in Metrea’s Aviation Safety and Management System and promote a just culture.
  • Represent Metrea’s core values with professionalism to coworkers, customers, and partners.

🧰 Minimum qualifications

  • Total PIC: 500 hours minimum
  • AFF experience: >200 hours in aerial firefighting operations
  • Night: 100 hours
  • Instrument: 75 hours
  • Licenses: CPL, IR, ME (EASA or FAA accepted)
  • Medical: Class 1
  • Currency: At least 100 hours PIC within the last 12 months
  • FLVC: Capable of obtaining a Canadian Foreign License Validation Certificate
  • English: Exceptional proficiency, spoken and written
  • Training: Able to complete company flight training and demonstrate role proficiency

🌟 Preferred experience

  • Previous large-aircraft AFF experience, especially turboprop airtankers
  • DHC‑8 tactical and low‑level experience
  • Multi‑engine, long‑term retardant application and drop management
