As a Dash 8 Airtanker Line Pilot with Metrea, you will execute safe, effective, and efficient multi-mission aerial firefighting operations in a multi-crew environment. Ideal candidates have experience with multi-engine, long-term retardant application and thrive in dynamic, time-critical operations. DHC-8 tactical and low-level experience is highly desirable. You will report to the Aerial Firefighting Head of Flight Operations and play a key part in both operational flying and the continuous advancement of our SOPs, TTPs, and safety systems.
🧭 What you’ll do
- Conduct multi-mission airtanker operations with a focus on safe, effective, and efficient long-term retardant delivery.
- Plan and brief flights, including performance, W&B, fuel, weather, and tactical considerations for low-level operations.
- Perform thorough pre-flight checks and coordinate closely with company schedulers, clients, and aircrew to ensure seamless mission execution.
- Operate as part of a disciplined multi-crew team using robust CRM and SOP adherence in dynamic environments.
- Support the development and continuous refinement of SOPs and TTPs to elevate mission effectiveness and standardization.
- Participate actively in Metrea’s Aviation Safety and Management System and champion a strong safety culture.
- Represent Metrea’s core values, maintain customer satisfaction, and demonstrate professionalism in all interactions.

🌟 Minimum qualifications
- Total PIC: 500 hours
- Aerial firefighting experience: >200 hours
- Night: 100 hours
- Instrument: 75 hours
- Currency: At least 100 hours PIC within the last 12 months
- Licences: CPL, IR, ME
- Open to licence holders: EASA, FAA
- Medical: Class 1
- Type rating: Not required (Training provided)
- Licence validation: Must be capable of receiving a Canadian Foreign Licence Validation Certificate
🔎 Preferred experience
- Previous aerial firefighting experience with large aircraft—turboprop airtankers delivering retardant (DHC-8 or similar).
- DHC-8 tactical and low-level operations experience.
