Lead safe, efficient ATR 42 operations across Japan’s scheduled network. This permanent opportunity welcomes Non-Type Rated captains, with type training provided upon selection. JCAB ATPL, Japanese fluency, and an aviation radio operator qualification are essential.
🧭 The opportunity
As an ATR 42 Captain, you will command domestic scheduled flights, uphold the highest safety and service standards, and mentor crew members through exemplary leadership and CRM. You’ll represent the airline’s safety-first culture while delivering dependable regional connectivity.
📋 Key responsibilities
- Command ATR 42 operations in accordance with JCAB regulations and company SOPs.
- Exercise robust PIC decision-making with proactive threat and error management.
- Lead effective CRM; brief, mentor, and support flight and cabin crew.
- Oversee thorough preflight planning, performance and fuel calculations, and weather/NOTAM reviews.
- Champion safety reporting, compliance, and continuous improvement initiatives.
🧰 Minimum requirements
- PIC time: 500+ hours
- Flight time notes: More than 500 hours as a Captain in a Japanese scheduled air transportation company
- License: ATPL (JCAB)
- Medical: Class 1
- ICAO ELP: Level 4
- Type rating: Not required (training provided)
- Language: Fluency in Japanese
- Radio qualification: Aviation radio operator qualification
- Right to work: Must already have the legal right to work in Japan (no visa sponsorship)
🌟 Preferred experience
- Experience as a check pilot, instructor, or in a management position within a flight operations organization.
🎓 Training and type rating
NTR candidates who meet the minimum criteria will receive ATR 42 type training and company indoctrination to JCAB standards.
