✈️ The Opportunity
As a First Officer based in Carmel, IN, you will support the Captain in all phases of flight—from planning and preflight to in-flight operations and post-arrival handling—while upholding Federal Aviation Regulations, company procedures, and the highest safety standards.
🧭 What You’ll Do
- Conduct thorough flight planning, including weather evaluation, fuel calculations, and performance considerations in accordance with company procedures and FAA regulations.
- Verify aircraft airworthiness and complete detailed preflight inspections.
- Operate the aircraft safely and effectively under the Captain’s direction and within all applicable manuals, policies, and procedures.
- Coordinate with the Captain, dispatch, crew, passengers, and ATC to ensure safe and timely operations.
- Prepare and validate the load manifest for every flight; ensure accurate loading of passengers, baggage, and cargo.
- Monitor and communicate operational factors (e.g., turbulence) to crew and passengers.
- Support on-time performance by managing report times, departure times, and minimum turn times.
- Assist with proper aircraft, passenger, baggage, and cargo handling at the terminal.
- Maintain professional appearance, adhere to the company uniform policy and Rules of Conduct, and demonstrate reliable attendance.
- Engage in recurrent and continuing training to maintain proficiency and support Republic Airways’ core values and culture.
🧰 Qualifications & Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Meet current FAA and Company minimum age and flight-hour requirements for interview and hiring.
- Meet the minimum requirements for an ATP or R-ATP certificate; ATP written examination preferred.
- Prior customer-service experience preferred, especially in an aviation environment.
- Ability to quickly read, analyze, interpret, and apply technical procedures and government regulations.
- Effective communicator with management, dispatch, crew, passengers, ATC, and the public; able to speak and be clearly understood in English, including shouted emergency commands.
- Strong practical problem-solving skills; able to interpret written, oral, diagrammatic, and schedule-based instructions.
- Composed, decisive, and safety-focused under pressure during medical emergencies, decompression, evacuations, fires, security threats, passenger disturbances, turbulence, and other abnormal situations.
🛡️ Compliance & Eligibility
- Must pass FAA-required 10-year employment-history review, criminal background and fingerprint checks.
- Subject to FAA- and Company-mandated drug and alcohol testing.
- Possess and maintain a valid U.S. or foreign passport; legally authorized to work in the United States; able to travel into and out of the country.
💪 Physical & Operational Demands
- Climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, squat, and crawl as required in and around the aircraft.
- Sit for extended periods; operate emergency equipment and exits with up to 70 lbs of force.
- Move a flight bag up to 40 lbs; lift carry-on baggage up to 35 lbs above shoulder height.
- Meet FAA visual and hearing standards; move freely and quickly in confined aircraft spaces; occupy pilot or jump seat with restraints fastened.
- Tolerate moving mechanical parts, outdoor weather on the flight line and in open-air hangars, and high noise levels.
- Work extended duty periods across consecutive days; early mornings, nights, overnights, weekends, and holidays.
- Adapt to temperature and climate changes; travel up to 100%, including overnight stays.
- Report with little notice and be willing to relocate based on operational needs.
