🧭 The mission

Join Air Methods in Rapid City, SD, flying the Black Hills Life Flight PC‑12 on IFR missions that operate 24/7/365. You’ll hold final authority for each launch and recovery, ensuring aircraft airworthiness, weather minima, and safe transport of medical crew and patients to receiving hospitals across the assigned region.

🧰 What you’ll do

• Exercise pilot‑in‑command authority for all flight operations and passenger, cargo, and equipment safety.
• Operate within FAR, AIM, company GOM, and Air Methods procedures.
• Conduct thorough preflight planning and risk assessments; complete a full aircraft walk‑around before cockpit entry and after each flight.
• Complete pre‑flight inspection, sign the Daily Flight Log, and maintain accurate flight documentation.
• Launch on short‑notice IFR missions with precise flight planning and performance calculations.
• Confirm aircraft and weather are airworthy prior to patient transport; coordinate effectively with medical crew and comms.
• Understand aircraft and medical systems on assigned and backup aircraft; ensure the medical team is familiar with interior and systems.
• Participate in meetings, training, committees, projects, and community outreach; perform other duties as assigned.
• No supervisory responsibilities.

🎯 What you’ll bring

• IFR program minimums: 2,500 total hours; 2,000 in category (airplane); 1,000 PIC in category; 500 cross‑country (incl. 50 night); 500 turbine; 100 night; 100 actual instrument in category; flown in category within last 24 months.
• Certificates: CPL (Commercial Pilot License) airplane with Instrument rating; ATP in category satisfies instrument requirement. For this single‑engine PC‑12 role: Commercial Single‑Engine Land required. (Multi‑engine rating required only for twin‑engine assignments.)
• Medical: FAA First‑ or Second‑Class Medical.
• Education: Associate’s degree or equivalent (2‑year college/tech) plus 2–5 years related experience/training; Bachelor’s preferred.
• Other requirements: Able to meet duty schedule (7/7, 12‑hour shifts); build positive relationships with colleagues, EMS partners, hospitals, and the public.
• Operational limits: Maximum pilot weight 250 lb; age under 70.

• Schedule: 7 days on / 7 days off • 12‑hour shifts.
• Base salary: USD $82,900 – $93,251 (dependent on flight and EMS experience).
• Stipends & bonuses: $40,000 base stipend • $12,000 experience stipend • $3,000 IFR stipend • $15,000 sign‑on bonus • Off‑duty housing provided.
