Join Air Methods at the Air Idaho Rescue base in Idaho Falls, Idaho, and fly meaningful missions that save lives. As a PC‑12 Captain in our IFR, Part 135 program, you’ll operate on a dependable 7-on/7-off schedule and be the final authority for safe, timely patient transport across our service area.
🧭 What you’ll do
- Serve as Pilot in Command, exercising final authority for safe operation, passengers, cargo, and equipment.
- Transport medical crew and patients to receiving facilities within the assigned operational area under IFR in all seasons.
- Ensure aircraft and weather conditions are airworthy and mission-appropriate prior to each launch.
- Conduct thorough preflight and postflight inspections, including full walk‑arounds, and complete the Daily Flight Log.
- Perform detailed and timely flight planning—often with short notice—to exacting standards.
- Operate in full compliance with FARs, AIM, the General Operations Manual (GOM), and Air Methods policies and procedures.
- Maintain proficiency and familiarity with assigned aircraft systems and medical systems, including backup aircraft used in the area.
- Accurately complete all required documentation and reports.
🧰 What you bring
- Certificates: Commercial Single‑Engine Land with Instrument Rating; an ATP in category satisfies this requirement.
- Medical: FAA First or Second Class Medical.
- Total Time: 2,500 hours total flight time, including at least 2,000 hours in category (airplane).
- PIC: 1,000 hours Pilot‑in‑Command in category.
- Turbine: 500 hours.
- Cross‑Country: 500 hours, including at least 50 hours at night.
- Night: 100 hours.
- Actual IFR: 100 hours in category.
- Ratings: Fixed‑wing multiengine rating required only for twin‑engine assignments; current role is single‑engine PC‑12.
All experience requirements align with the IFR program for this Part 135 air medical operation.
