Woolpert Africa is seeking mission-ready Survey Pilots to power our Aerial Acquisition – Africa Operations Team. Based in Johannesburg with extensive fieldwork across the region, you’ll help deliver world-class geospatial and aerial survey data in diverse and often challenging environments.

  • Location: Johannesburg, South Africa (regional field rotations)
  • Team: Aerial Acquisition – Africa Operations
  • Travel/Rotations: Assignments away from base for up to 6 weeks
  • License: Commercial Pilot’s License (CPL) with current medical
  • Experience: 1,000+ total flight hours; 120+ hours on twin‑engine aircraft
  • Ratings: Current night and instrument rating
  • Passport: Valid, ready for regional travel
  • Nice-to-have: Turbine time; prior survey flying; ratings on Cessna Reims F406, Piper PA31‑350, Partenavia P.68

✈️ The Mission

Join a high-performing operations team executing geospatial and aerial survey missions across Africa. You’ll fly multi-engine aircraft to acquire precise aerial data, uphold safety and quality standards, and represent Woolpert in the field.

🧭 What You’ll Do

  • Execute aerial survey sorties from a South Africa base across multiple locations.
  • Operate within diverse, sometimes challenging environments while maintaining world-class data quality.
  • Work away from base for rotations of up to six weeks to meet mission requirements.
  • Collaborate closely with operations and sensor teams to plan, brief, and debrief missions.
  • Apply strong airmanship, adherence to procedures, and sound judgment in dynamic field conditions.

Minimum Requirements

  • Valid Commercial Pilot’s License (CPL) with a current medical certificate.
  • Minimum 1,000 hours total flight time.
  • Current night and instrument rating.
  • At least 120 hours on twin‑engine aircraft.
  • Valid passport.
  • Flexibility to work away from base for up to 6 weeks at a time.

Preferred Experience & Skills

  • Turbine-aircraft experience.
  • Prior survey flight experience.
  • Short courses in CRM, DG, SEPT, and SMS (SMS advantageous).
