As an Aerial Survey Pilot, you’ll fly modern turboprop aircraft on survey missions throughout Africa, combining precision flying with fieldwork in dynamic environments.

✈️ The mission

  • Conduct aerial survey missions across Africa, operating turboprop aircraft for geospatial and mapping projects.
  • Execute detailed survey flight plans, maintain strict mission parameters, and ensure consistent data capture.
  • Support Woolpert’s world-class aerial data operations while based in Johannesburg with regular field deployments.
  • Work effectively in challenging, remote environments and adapt to changing operational needs.

🧭 Travel and deployment

  • Field deployments of up to 6 weeks away from base, with Africa-wide routing.
  • Flexibility to operate from diverse locations and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Johannesburg home base when not deployed.

🧰 What you’ll bring

  • Valid CPL and current Class 1 Medical.
  • Minimum 1,000 hours total flight time.
  • Current night rating and instrument rating.
  • Valid passport and willingness to travel for deployments up to 6 weeks.
  • Type-rated on twin-engine aircraft (preferred).
  • Experience flying turbine aircraft (preferred).
  • Certifications: CRM, DG, SEPT; SMS advantageous.
