Join a mission-driven Aerial Firefighting team flying multi-mission airtanker operations on the DHC-8/Dash 8 Q-Series. As a Line Pilot, you’ll execute safe, effective, and efficient retardant delivery in a multi-crew environment, support continuous improvement of our SOPs/TTPs, and uphold Metrea’s core values with every sortie.

  • Type Rating: Not required (Training provided)
  • License: CPL, IR, ME (EASA or FAA)
  • Medical: Class 1
  • Reports To: Aerial Firefighting Head of Flight Operations

🧭 What you’ll do

  • Conduct safe, effective, and efficient aerial firefighting missions, including long-term retardant application from a DHC-8 in a multi-crew environment.
  • Operate tactically at low level when required, applying sound airmanship, terrain awareness, and crew coordination.
  • Own the full flight cycle: flight planning, performance/fuel planning, weather and NOTAM review, aircraft pre-flight, and post-flight duties.
  • Coordinate closely with company schedulers, clients, and aircrew to ensure timely mission execution and operational readiness.
  • Contribute to the development and continuous refinement of SOPs and TTPs, sharing lessons learned to elevate safety and effectiveness.
  • Participate actively in Metrea’s Aviation Safety and Management System, including reporting, debriefs, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Represent Metrea’s core values on the flight line and with customers, maintaining professionalism and composure in dynamic environments.

🧰 Additional requirements

  • Must be capable of receiving a Canadian Foreign License Validation Certificate.
  • Exceptional proficiency in English, both spoken and written.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment with limited supervision.
  • Must be able to complete the flight training program, demonstrating proficiency with job requirements.
  • Maintains customer satisfaction with the services offered by the company.

  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive information.

📋 Minimum requirements

  • Total PIC: 500 hours (minimum)
  • Aerial Firefighting Experience: >200 hours
  • Night/Instrument: 100 hours night and 75 hours instrument
  • Recency: At least 100 hours PIC within the last twelve months
  • License: CPL, IR, ME (EASA or FAA)
  • Medical: Class 1
  • Type Rating: Not required (Training provided)

🌟 Preferred experience

  • Previous experience in aerial firefighting with large aircraft, especially turboprop operations.
  • DHC-8 (Dash 8) or similar platform experience delivering retardant.
  • Demonstrated tactical and low-level multi-engine proficiency.
