Type-rated: Required
License: ICAO Frozen ATPL with IR and ME
Medical: Class 1
ICAO English: ELP Level 4 or higher
Currency: Flown any Airbus Widebody FBW or Boeing Widebody within the last 12 months

🧭 Your mission on the flight deck

  • Support the Captain to ensure the safe, secure, and efficient operation of every flight, adhering to Etihad SOPs and all regulatory standards.
  • Assist in all aspects of flight preparation, performance, and navigation, maintaining continuous independent monitoring of position, terrain, and weather.
  • Provide clear, timely communication and sound advice to aid safe and efficient decision‑making.
  • Demonstrate professionalism, technical skill, and strong teamwork while developing leadership capability for future command.
  • Uphold exemplary standards of discipline, conduct, and personal appearance, representing Etihad professionally on and off duty.
  • Assume command in the event of Captain incapacitation in accordance with rank and company procedures.

🧰 General eligibility

  • Type rating: On any Airbus Widebody FBW or Boeing Widebody aircraft (valid for at least 2 more months at time of joining).
  • Currency: Flown any Airbus Widebody FBW or Boeing Widebody aircraft within the last 12 months.
  • Licensing: ICAO Frozen ATPL (CPL with credit for ATPL), with valid IR and ME.
  • Medical: Class 1.
  • ICAO English: ELP Level 4 or higher.
  • Accepted licenses: ICAO.
  • Minimum jet time: 1,000 hours.

📏 Flight time pathways (meet either A or B)

To be considered for the role of First Officer, you must meet one of the following pathways in addition to the general eligibility above:

  • Criteria A
    • Minimum 2,500 hours total flying time.
    • Minimum 1,500 hours on multi‑crew, glass‑cockpit MPA.
    • Minimum 1,000 hours on any Airbus Widebody FBW or Boeing Widebody aircraft.
  • Criteria B
    • Minimum 3,000 hours total flying time.
    • Minimum 2,000 hours on any Airbus Widebody FBW or Boeing Widebody aircraft.

Type rating on any Airbus Widebody FBW or Boeing Widebody must be valid for at least 2 months at the time of joining.

📝 Additional requirements

  • Age: Must not have attained the age of 50 on the day of joining.
  • For Frozen ATPL (CPL) holders: Present the results of the ATPL Theoretical Knowledge Exam and an integrated ATPL course completion certificate.
