🧭 About the role

As a KLM First Officer, you will deliver safe, efficient, and passenger-focused operations across short- and long-haul networks. You will work within a highly professional crew environment, uphold rigorous SOPs and CRM standards, and contribute to KLM’s reputation for operational excellence. Fleet assignment is based on seniority.

🧰 Minimum qualifications

  • Licenses: EASA Frozen ATPL with IR, MCC, ME, and UPRT
  • Medical: EASA Class 1
  • ICAO ELP: Level 6
  • Type rating: Current multi‑engine turbine type rating
  • Flight time: 500 hrs multi‑engine; 500 hrs turbine; at least 500 hrs on a heavy twin fixed‑wing (≥ 5,700 kg)
  • Recency: Minimum 150 hrs recent flying experience in commercial aviation

🎓 Education & language

  • Education: Minimum MBO‑4 (technology) or HAVO including English, mathematics, and physics; or foreign equivalent
  • Dutch proficiency: Good knowledge required. If you do not speak Dutch, you must pass a CEFR B2 exam prior to the selection procedure
  • Passport: Valid passport

🌟 What you’ll do

  • Operate passenger and/or cargo flights in accordance with KLM SOPs and regulatory requirements
  • Execute high standards of airmanship, threat and error management, and CRM
  • Participate in recurrent training and checking, upholding a strong safety culture
  • Collaborate closely with the flight deck and cabin crew to ensure on-time, customer‑centric operations
  • Support operational decision-making and effective communication with ATC and ground teams
