British Airways Long‑Haul Direct Entry Pilot (UK CAA) – Heathrow

Start on one of British Airways’ four long‑haul fleets with the scope to transfer later to another long‑haul fleet, or move to short‑haul for command. Opportunities currently exist across all fleets.

• Fleets: Long‑haul fleets at LHR; Boeing 777 pilots operate from both LHR and LGW and will also fly the Boeing 777X when it enters service.
• Training: CCQ courses are available on long‑haul Airbus fleets only.

• Operate British Airways long‑haul services from Heathrow across our global network.
• Deliver the highest standards of safety, professionalism and customer experience on every flight.

• Total time: Minimum 1,500 hours.
• On type: Minimum 500 hours on a relevant aeroplane type (up to 100 hours may be in a suitable simulator).
• Recency: Flying experience on a relevant type within the last 12 months.
• Licence: UK Part‑FCL ATPL(A), or meets the hours requirement to obtain an ATPL(A).
• Medical: UK CAA Class 1 with at least 6 months’ validity remaining at date of joining.
• Language: Spoken and written English at ICAO Level 6.
• Passport: Valid with at least 12 months before expiry.
• Height: 1.57 m to 1.91 m (taller applicants may apply subject to a functionality check).
• Fitness & standards: Good physical fitness and ability to comply with British Airways’ uniform standards.
• Water competency: Able to swim 50 m, then tread water for 3 minutes and assist people in the water.
